There is no prerequisite for our workshops but having coursework at the Classroom Educator Level or Associate Level is highly preferred.

This 12-hour workshop is designed for practitioners working in one-on-one tutoring settings, focusing on lesson planning and implementation using the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach. Attendees will learn how to use informal evaluations, understand the sequence of OG skills, and develop lesson plans that enhance both reading and spelling through practical, hands-on exercises.
This 15-hour workshop focuses on the language comprehension strand of the Reading Rope, and how it contributes to overall reading comprehension. Participants will understand the importance of building background knowledge, effective vocabulary instruction, and critical thinking skills (metacognition) in order to increase reading comprehension of nonfiction text.
This 10-hour workshop is designed for preschool teachers and focuses on building a strong foundation for early literacy. Participants will learn to identify early signs of reading difficulty and explore key concepts such as phonological and phonemic awareness, oral language, and phonics.
This 15-hour workshop focuses on the importance of morphology in understanding and teaching dyslexic students. Attendees will be provided with tools and instructional procedures for teaching morphology to students in lower and upper elementary grades in one-on-one and group settings. This course that satisfies some of the coursework requirements at the Certified Level of certification with the Orton-Gillingham Academy.
This 15-hour workshop helps educators deepen their understanding of psychological testing and the unique processing challenges dyslexic students face. Participants will explore assessments such as the WISC-V and various achievement tests, gaining insights into how each can inform diagnostic and prescriptive instruction. Educators will learn to interpret test results, identify patterns, and develop targeted strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
This 10-hour workshop is intended for elementary and early middle school teachers who will be teaching grammar and writing concepts. Concepts covered will include parts of speech, sentence construction, diagramming, and more. This course satisfies some of the coursework requirements at the Certified Level of certification with the Orton-Gillingham Academy.
